Rail Minister officially opens new Euston Community Hub offering community programmes to locals

  • Community representatives helped shape the programmes provided at the Hub, including health and wellbeing advice, employment support, youth leadership development, help for older residents, and family-friendly creative activities.
  • The Hub was established by the Euston Partnership, a collection of organisations working together on the redevelopment of the Euston area, and it is located in the former Maria Fidelis school on North Gower Street.

A new community hub and information point located in the heart of Euston has been officially opened in a ceremony attended by the Rail Minister, Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill, and the Leader of Camden Council, as well as residents and community organisations.

Located on the ground floor of the former Maria Fidelis school on North Gower Street, the Euston Community Hub was established by the Euston Partnership, a collection of organisations working together on the redevelopment of the Euston area.

The Euston Community Hub provides a dynamic space for community sector organisations and public service providers to carry out various programmes and community-led activities, initiatives, and engagement.

The Euston Partnership is funding three initial projects at the Hub covering:

Health and wellbeing advice: A local pharmacy, Greenlight Pharmacy, will provide advice, support, and physical activity for health and wellbeing.

Employment support: A local community group, Hopscotch, will offer advice and support on employment and volunteering.

Youth leadership development: A local charity, Fitzrovia Youth in Action, will support disadvantaged young people to lead youth-led community and peer-education projects.

The facility will also provide free space for additional community services supporting older residents, through the Third Age Project, and families with young children, through the Regent’s Park Timebank. More information about the programmes can be found on discovereuston.org.uk.

The Euston Partnership worked closely with community leaders, charities, volunteer groups, and local residents to shape the programmes and activities that would deliver the greatest benefit to local people.

Key community leaders and users of the Euston Community Hub, like Ellie Rudd of Fitzrovia Youth in Action, are celebrated in the facility’s wayfinding and wall art, where they appear as vibrant illustrations. The Euston Partnership also worked with local charity Old Diorama Arts Centre and Camden Council to create a striking mural at the hub’s entrance, install living walls, and lay new paving on the road outside the building.

The Euston Community Hub will also serve as a central information point for residents and passengers, providing regular updates and engagement opportunities about plans to redevelop Euston – including the new HS2 station, upgraded Network Rail station, London Underground enhancements, and significant development of homes, offices, shops, and open public space.

The Euston Community Hub will ensure direct communication between the community and project partners as one of the UK’s most significant regeneration projects moves forward.

Speaking at the launch event, the Rail Minister, Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill said:

“I am honoured to officially open the new Euston Community Hub, and celebrate the hard work of the Euston Partnership, HS2, our partners at LB Camden, and everyone else who has made this possible.

“This government has centred our ambitions around supporting local communities. I am so pleased to see the work already happening to support residents through a range of activities to improve health, mental and physical wellbeing, and offering support towards employment and youth empowerment.

“Local people have been impacted by the work around Euston for a long time, and it will continue. This Hub will not only start to give something back to these people, but make it easier for us to engage with the community at the heart of this great new transport interchange and the wider development, which will bring growth, jobs and homes to Euston and contribute to London’s and the UK economy.”

Cllr Richard Olszewski, Leader of Camden Council, said:

“The opening of the Euston Community Hub is fantastic news for local residents, and we’re proud to have worked with our partners and the community to bring this space to life.

“It will provide a space for residents to learn more about the future of Euston and help shape what’s to come – including jobs, new affordable homes, green spaces, and more community facilities.

“It’s also about the here and now as the Hub will offer vital support for residents today – from health and wellbeing advice to employment support and youth programmes – all delivered in the heart of the community.”

Andre Schott, CEO, Fitzrovia Youth In Action, added:

“We are excited about working in the new Hub. It is an amazing resource for the local community, and we can’t wait to see even more residents identifying ways the Hub can serve them.

“Our young people love the space, and we look forward to supporting them and more groups to get active, socialise in a safe space and deliver social action programmes which will benefit the wider community.”
