A new public art trail has launched in Camden’s Regent’s Park Estate, transforming the neighbourhood into an immersive celebration of local stories, creativity, and community spirit.

The Regent’s Park Estate Story Trail is a resident-led project developed by Old Diorama Arts Centre (ODAC), working in close collaboration with local people over the past year. The trail features a series of vibrant artworks and evocative audio pieces, each rooted in the lived experiences of the estate’s residents.

Installed across the estate, the trail’s stops invite visitors to scan QR codes linking to sound stories — short audio works recorded with and voiced by residents of all ages. Themes range from childhood memories and family traditions to housing, community gardening, and everyday life in a rapidly changing part of central London.

“The launch of the Regent’s Park Estate Story Trail marks four years since the reinvention of Old Diorama Arts Centre began,” said Daniel Pitt, creative director and chief executive of ODAC. “It encapsulates everything that ODAC is about: deeply and ambitiously community-led, collaborative and participatory. By enabling risk-taking new artist commissions, we’re making real change in our shared urban environment.

“This public art trail is equally artistically and socially ambitious. Each of the commissions offer a radical vision of what public art can do, inviting local residents into the heart of the creative process and deeply embedding artists into the community. Thank you to the residents of Regent’s Park Estate for having such visionary ideas for our community, believing in the power of art, and working with us to make this possible. It’s been an honour and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together next.”

The project, officially launched in April 2025, is free to explore and open to all. Trail maps are available online and at ODAC, located just off Regent’s Place.

As regeneration continues to reshape the area, the Story Trail offers a timely and meaningful way to spotlight local identity and ensure residents’ voices remain central to the story of Camden’s future.
